Our trip for Rachel's 4th birthday

We decided that we would surprise our kids and just show up for Rachel Eliana's birthday party, but we went a couple of days sooner than we planned. The reason we did that was that I just got a new car and wanted to show the kids. We pulled into Andrea and Aaron's driveway and called them to come out of their house. They were so surprised to see us and of course were thrilled with the car and that we came for the party. What a blast we had. Then the next morning we just showed up at Avery's soccer game and when "Aunt" Rachel saw the car, she screamed and was totally shocked that we were there. It was great!
We had so much fun at the party and watching the kids as princesses and knights. And Andrea did a beautiful job on the cake.
Then we also drove down to Canon City and got to see Bob's mom. We had a great time visiting with her and hard to believe she will be 94 years old in November.
We also drove from there to Pueblo West and spent the night with Tiff and Rob and the boys, so our trip was well worth the travel.

Mom's August 2011 Visit

We had a blast with mom this summer. She flew up in time for Avery's 4th birthday and stayed two weeks and then Bob and I drove her back to Decatur, Texas and spent a week there. Not only did she get to see all her great grandbabies in Fort Collins, but she played golf with Rachel and Andrea, her granddaughters and me. She also got to see Steve and Vicki Springer, friends that we have know for over 40 years. And while in Grand Junction, she got to see Jim and Marlene Bonella, and have a pedicure too.
On the way to Texas we stopped in Delta and saw her friends, Al and Verna Jesser and their son, Jim, that used to hunt with Dad and Mom and that was so fun. We also stopped in Gunnison and saw Ken and Judy
Adrian, a pastor friend, who has know our family for years. They just happened to be there fishing and we got to have lunch and visit.
Then we spent the night at Tiffany's and Rob's house so mom got to see them and then Rob Manfred and his two kids. She had so much fun and we loved it. We took her antiquing while we were in Fort Collins and she found some things there. Glad our car was not too full....haha! Loved the trip and loved having mom here. Can't wait til Christmas when she comes up for the week. Love you Mom!!!

2011 LPGA Women's Open at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs

Well, Bob and I got to spend an entire week in Colorado Springs and enjoy watching the LPGA women play the US Open tournament. What a time we had. The women were amazing. I was so surprized that so many were really tiny and they could hit the ball a loooong way! I took tons of pictures and got a lot of autographs, but my most memorable moment was seeing Annika Sorenstam and then getting her autograph and Bob and I got our picture taken with her. I was so excited that my hands were shaking afterwards. I guess knowing that she is the greatest woman golfer of all time was what shook me up so much.

It was so great. And then we met a lot of great people while watching the tournament and sometimes wishing I could hit the ball like the pros. But overall, the experience we had was a one of a kind.

It was so much fun babysitting Avery and Madi for Brian and Rachel when they went to Colorado Springs for Brian to perform a wedding. They left on Friday afternoon the 1st of July and came back on the evening of the 2nd. Grandpa Bob and I had a blast and I took some adorable pictures.

There is just something about grandchildren that warms my heart. In the first part of April, Andrea and Aaron came to visit and brought Malachi, Rachel and Isaiah for a few days. What fun we had playing with them and taking them to the Dinosaur Museum in Fruita, Colorado. Then we of course went to Fort Collins for Easter and Madison's 1st birthday which just happened to fall on the same day as Easter. What a blessing to us that God gave us wonderful kids and such sweet grandkids.
And on May 6th we drove to pick up Avery and Madi from Brian and Rachel to have them for a couple of days. Brian and Rachel had a staff retreat in Steamboat Springs, so we got to babysit. Had a blast. And on Sunday, Mothers Day we drove to Steamboat and got to be there for two days with them.
Thank you to our children for sharing their families with us. We dearly love you all.

Reflections on losing my father

A father will always be his daughter's first love. The man by whom most other men will be measured against. And my dad was no slouch. He was a good looking, strong man who served his country in World War II and worked hard to provide for his family. I grew up in a family that had four kids, two other sisters and a brother and dad was a disciplinarian and expected us to obey. Of course we did, but then we also rebelled too. More than anything, though, dad was a strong believer in God and we were in church every time the doors were open. He and mom taught us to love the Lord and to know what was right and what was wrong. Because of their guidance, I am sure that is what helped me to grow into the person I am today.
I don't want to talk about the serious times though, I want to tell about some of the things that were so fun for me with dad. I loved going fishing with him. Just about the last time we went together was at Curecanti creek in Colorado. Mom and dad and Bob and I went stream fishing. Dad and I were together and catching brooks quickly. Soon Bob joined us and his creel was empty while ours were full. When we asked why, he said he had been throwing out the little ones and we laughed so much. Bob had been so used to fishing at Taylor Park Reservior that the stream fish seemed too small to keep. What a great time we had together.
I loved hunting with him too. I still have the remains of a bullet that dad took out of a deer that he shot while we hunted together. He told the greatest stories about fishing and hunting. And his stories of when he was in the war. I am so glad that I took the time to record a lot of the war stories one year while visiting him and mom.
But the most fun of all was playing golf with dad. He was a natural golfer. His short game around the greens was awesome. He had some stories of golf games too. I know that he loved playing with Lee Trevino in the pro-ams that were held in Fort Worth, Texas. And he kept the $100 bill that Lee autographed when dad's team beat Lee's. I am so glad that I have these precious memories of dad.
I know that Heaven was rejoicing when dad entered and came face to face with Jesus. I do not weep without hope, because I know I will see him again someday.
I love you daddy for being so wonderful to me. You were an awesome man and great father!

Trip to Fort Collins again

Wow...it seems we almost live in Fort Collins. We have travelled there more this year than ever before. I can hardly wait to move there so we can be close to our kids and grandkids. And the trip over the mountains is getting a little loooooonnnnnnnnnnnng!!! But once we are there, we don't want to leave. We actually moved a bunch of stuff into storage this last weekend and boy it was great to clean out the garage and pack up some things we won't use until we move.
Also we got to see and surprise the grandkids again. Of course they want us to stay longer, but someday we will be right there to see them often.
Last week when we were there, we got to visit Summitview Church again, where Andrea, Aaron, Brian and Rachel and the children go. We loved it and always do get a blessing when we attend. Took some great pictures and thought it would be fun to post them.

Women of Faith Trip

What an amazing trip we had last weekend to Fort Collins to see our family and then to get to go to the Pepsi Center for Women of Faith. On Friday, Andrea spent the day with me there and then on Saturday, Rachel went with me. The greatest blessing was that neither of my daughters had been to one of these conferences and just to be with them there was awesome. The speakers were great and Andrea got to see one of her favorite gospel groups, Mary Mary in concert on Friday night. Wow...they rocked the house. On Saturday, Natalie Grant had a concert and it was wonderful too. Just a great time was had by all. God really blessed our hearts.

On August 4th Bob and I picked up mom at the Denver airport and drove her to Fort Collins to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lives in Decatur, Texas that is about 40 miles north of Fort Worth. It was a blast having her here.While we were in Fort Collins, we spoiled her a little by shopping and getting her a couple of new dresses, going out to eat...especially Jim's Wings, and golfing with her daughter(me) and her granddaughters, Rachel and Andrea. Mom will be 87 on the 26th of this month and shot a 54 on nine holes. Awesome golf, mom!!! We also took in some antique stores, at which, Andrea and I bought stuff and mom did not. But as you can see in the pictures, the rocking horse was a great buy!
One of the most fun things we got to do was to take photos of three and four generations. I am sure we wore her out, but it was such a great time together. We spent four days in Fort Collins and then drove back to Grand Junction with her. What a great time of visiting with her. And we are so thankful for Marlene Bonella who used some of her air miles to fly mom here and back home. What a blessing for mom and for our family. I took tons of pictures and we got a lot of them printed for mom to take home and I know she will cherish this trip as much as I do.

Trip to the Bundys

Going to see the grandkids in Pueblo West was so much fun. We got there on Thursday afternoon and on Friday morning we got to watch Reece and Payton at their swim lessons. It was really great because Michael was there too. We also got to see Kailynne, who is sooooo grown up and beautiful at 13 years old. You know, they aren't supposed to grow up so fast.

Anyway, they swam and jumped off the diving board and I got tons of videos. Then later that day we got to see Reece play baseball. Boy, he is a player!!! He got a double out, when he caught a fly ball and then chased down a runner from second base and got him out too. Awesome!! So cute to watch.

After the game we went home and we went outside on the patio and just enjoyed the night. We saw shooting stars and the moon was so beautiful. We actually sat there after the kids went to bed and just visited until midnight. What a relaxing and great time with Tiffany and Rob.

On Saturday morning we went to see Reece and Payton practice hockey at an open practice. There were only four or five there so it was fun to see them. I couldn't believe how long it takes for them to put on all their gear...WOW! They probably weigh at least 5 pounds more. Anyway....what a hoot!!!

Reece is very athletic and looked so great on the ice, and Payton....well he is going to be awesome!

One video I took as we were watching, his dad and mom kept yelling for him to go fast. And he did, although Rob said that Payton was going so fast that he looked like he was in slow motion. Very cute.

Of course Poppy and Grandma thought he and Reece were ready for the "big" leagues....

Taylor Park on Father's Day

It was wonderful to go back to Taylor Park Trading Post on Father's Day once again. This time we met up with Andrea and Aaron and the kids and shared a cabin. I was thrilled it was cabin #28, just like we had for over 20 years. We actually got the cabin that we had always rented when our kids were small. We had a blast for four days. Fishing and playing with the grandkids and loving every minute. And we all caught fish! We went up there on Sunday, Father's Day and then came back home on Thursday and the kids came to our home. We got to swim, play, go to the mall and just enjoy each other. We are so blessed to spend time with our children and grandchildren. And watching Aaron play hide and seek in a small two bedroom cabin was a hoot. I was sure he would be stuck in the fireplace area, but he wasn't and Malachi didn't even see him for a few minutes. It was hysterical. Then we also got a video of the two kids playing when they were supposed to sleep and it was precious.
So glad we could have this time with them and looking forward to Taylor Park next year too.

June 12th through the 18th Rachel brought Avery and Madi to visit us. What a blast it was. The only problem was that "Grandma" had a cold and shared it with Avery and now all of them have had it. Two new grandbabies

Wow it was a wild two months, from March 12th through May 5th.
On March 11th we drove to Fort Collins and delivered a wedding cake for a friend. It was a beautiful time, but we had a wild trip because of a rockslide in Glenwood Canyon we had to travel over 7 hours to get to Fort Collins. Then we turned around and drove home two days later. We rested a few days and then on Saturday the 20th, we went back to Fort Collins for the birth of Isaiah Shane Taylor, Andrea and Aaron's third child. What a cutie pie!!!
We were able to stay a full two weeks there and what a blessing that was. Came home on April 6th and then on the 15th of April we drove to Reno to see Tony Bennett. Rachel and Brian and Andrea and Aaron gave us tickets to see him as our gift at Christmas. That was an awesome trip. Bob was thrilled to see his favorite singer. We listened to him for over an hour and half without a break. Unbelievable!
So, then on Sunday the 18th of April we drove home, a 14 hour drive from Reno. We rested on Monday and drove to Fort Collins on Tuesday because they were going to induce Rachel on Wednesday. As it turned out, Rachel was not induced until Friday, the 23rd and little Madison Hope Schultz presented herself at 12:42 a.m. on Saturday the 24th. Bob and I stayed for a week, then Bob left on Thursday the 29th for Grand Junction. He went to a men's retreat in Durango on Friday the 30th, came home on the 2nd of May and drove back to Fort Collins on Monday the 3rd. On Wednesday the 5th of May Bob and I drove home. So, in two months we travelled over 5000 miles back and forth. We were exhausted and blessed and thrilled all at the same time. I am putting pictures on, to show some of the fun we had. Enjoy!!!

On Saturday, Bob and I took a trip to Ridgway with Jim and Marlene to see their daughter, Cheryl and her familys new barn and all their animals. We had a blast, it was like being at a petting zoo. They name all the animals too. Here are two baby goats that I thought were so cute.

Fort Collins Christmas

What a great time we had this Christmas. Before we left to go to Fort Collins, we went over to see Nathan and Mary and got to see Destiny and Deju, our two great-grandkids. They are beautiful. We had a fun time visiting with them and with Mary and Nate. Seems like Christmas is always a busy time, but fun with family visits.

We left on Tuesday the 22nd of December for Fort Collins. Good thing we did, because it was perfect weather that day. We stayed at Aaron and Andrea's house and Brian's parents flew in that evening from Madison, Wisconsin and stayed with him and Rachel. On Wednesday morning we had decided to go to Centura Shopping Center, in Loveland, just to walk around and finish some last minute shopping. We went in a blizzard! The roads were absolutely awful, and we had a ball. Even though it was snowy and cold, we were all together.

On Christmas Eve we spent the day at Andrea and Aarons. Rachel and Brian and his parents came over a little before noon and we had a marvelous meal. Andrea had prepared a prime rib roast and everyone brought side dishes and helped. Before the kids took a nap, Avery Joy announced the name of her new little sister, to be born in April. "Madison Hope" is a beautiful name. Then later, we went to the Christmas Eve service and looked at Christmas lights.

On Christmas morning, we opened gifts with Malachi, Rachel Eliana and Aaron and Ange. What fun to see the little ones open their gifts. Once we had all opened our gifts, we went to Rachel and Brians to spend the day. Bob dressed up like Santa Claus and came in the back door to surprise Avery. It was hysterical. She kept saying, Santa, Grandpa Bob, ho ho ho! But, she never would kiss him. Malachi and Rachel Eliana both kissed him and thought he was really funny.

The day after Christmas, we left to go to Pueblo West, to see Tiffany and Rob and Reece and Payton for a couple of days. On the way we stopped in Denver to see my sister, Rayelynn, her husband and family. It was so fun seeing them. Hadn't seen them since June, when I did the wedding cake for Tyler, their son and Dawn, their new daughter-in-law. Had a fun visit and got to see Mae and Gordon, Glenn's folks. I am putting some pictures of Mae's tree house that she had made. Would love to have that in my back yard for the grandkids to play in.

Well, we made it to Pueblo and really enjoyed seeing Tiff, Rob and kids. We also got to see our son Rob Manfred and his children, Kailynne and Michael. How wonderful it was to see them. Boy, they have really grown.

This Christmas was so special to us. We got to spend time with all of our children and their families. That was the best present we could ask for.

While we were at our timeshare in Vail, we had the privilege of going to the wedding of Neikel Smith, whose parents and grandparents that we have known for years. The wedding was in the foothills, of Denver and the setting was absolutely beautiful. In fact, there were deer in the background. And we loved seeing friends that we hadn't seen in a long time. Tim Adrian, who is the pastor of a church in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Nikki's uncle, performed the ceremony. It was such a blessing to be there.

It has been years since we've seen Pam and Tim Adrian. So fun!

We had a blast in Fort Collins last weekend for Malachi's birthday. Can hardly believe he is four years old! Wow! He is growing up so fast. Grandpa Bob and I loved being there. Mommy made a special cake, Thomas the Train for him. He had sweet friends come to play and they had a fun time. After the party we ate dinner and then went to Chucky Cheese to play games. Boy, that was so crazy!!! I don't think I have seen that many kids in one place for years. Anyway, we all played until we were wore out. Everyone had fun and the kids loved every minute.
We can't wait to live close to be able to enjoy them even more.

Avery's "2nd" Birthday

Bob and I had a ball going to Fort Collins last week for two birthdays...lest I forget to mention that. Brian had a birthday on Thursday and Avery's was Friday. We did a lot of celebrating. We also stayed with Andrea and Aaron and the kids and had so much fun with them while we were there for the week. It was also such a blessing to see our children raising their children. We loved every minute being there and can't wait to live close to them. Still praying for God to move us there. Trying to be patient. Nephews Wedding

What a blast Bob and I had last week. When I was in Texas in March, my sister, Rayelynn asked me if I could make the wedding cake for Tyler, my nephew. Of course, I jumped on the chance to go back to Texas again. So, Bob and I planned the trip, how I could bake the cake and transport it to Dallas from Grand Junction and then decorate it there. Being that the trip would take two days, I had to plan how the cake would be fresh. I would bake the cake the afternoon before we left and then wrap it good and freeze it at mom's when we got to Decatur, Texas on Monday night. That worked out so well.
We also had a great time on the trip with Andrea and Aaron and the two grand kids, Malachi and Rachel Eliana. They met us in Pueblo at Tiffany's house on Sunday and we all spent the night there. The trip on Monday was a hoot! We left at 5:00 a.m. and I rode with Andrea and the kids and Aaron rode with Bob for the first half of the trip. Getting the kids up at 4:00 in the morning, I thought they would go back to sleep...but they didn't. They were so great! They played with some toys that Ange had brought and then they watched a Mickey Mouse video (several times). Both of them were great travellers. It took us about 13 hours to get to mom's. I couldn't believe how the little ones did in the car. Malachi is 3 1/2 and Rachel is not quite two and only potty trained in the last couple of weeks. She did not have any accidents on the way down. Whoopee! Both were little troopers. Mom had dinner ready and we had a feast with pecan pie to top it off.
After dinner, we drove to Dallas, thanking the good Lord that we had a GPS for the trip. (We may have still been there driving if we did not have it). When we got to the hotel, we were thrilled to not be in a car.
On Wednesday, we drove to Weatherford and visited with Papaw (dad). I was so glad that Andrea got to see her grandfather one more time. Then that afternoon, Brian called and said that he was getting Rachel a plane ticket to fly down for the wedding. So, on the way back to mom's to decorate the cake, we went to the airport to get her. But....there were massive thunderstorms in Dallas and just as we got to the airport, before we went through the gates, we got a call from Rachel that her plane had landed in Waco and she would end up waiting there for almost 5 hours before Bob could pick her up.
We went to Decatur and I started decorating the cake and making the cupcakes. Andrea was a great help. I am not sure I would have gotten it all done without her and then when Bob picked up Rachel, she helped with them too. It was like the show "Ace of Cakes" in mom's house. A real assembly line. We got basically everything done except for the flowers put on the wedding cake before we needed to leave for the rehearsal dinner. As it was, we were 10 minutes late to that, but that was okay.
On Friday, the day of the wedding, Bob and I drove back to Decatur, which is an hour from Dallas, to finish the cake and bring it back. Timing was good, because we took it straight to the place for the reception.
The wedding was beautiful and we got to see people that we haven't seen in many years (some about 30 years).
On Saturday, Rayelynn had a brunch and we spent the day eating and visiting. Then on Sunday morning we got back into the car and took mom to Decatur and then headed back home.
This was a long, crazy week and one that Bob and I will cherish. Even though he drove more in one week than he can ever remember, it was worth every mile.
Fabulous trip and getting together with family and friends is always wonderful.

Bob and I got to babysit Malachi and Rachel Eliana for daddy and mommy last week. Aaron and Andrea got to go to Branson and relax with no kids, no worries and that was great! It has been a long time since Grandma and Grandpa Bob had little ones, so we got broken in fast. Poopy diapers and messy highchairs and "I want a snack, Grandma" was part of the relearning process. And splashing in the tub at bath time. Grandma seemed to get the most soaking of all! We loved it! Although we were tired when we were done, it was a great bonding time with those little ones. We also got to spend time with Avery Joy. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the videos that I have posted here. Watching them now it seems that they will be little for a long time. But, as we all know, time seems to fly by faster than we want. And soon, these little ones won't be so little anymore. What a blessing to be able to watch them and let mom and dad have some R & R.

Last week we got to have Andrea and Aaron and the kids visit us. We had a ball with the two grandkids being here. They are both little pistols. Malachi is growing up so fast and I wasn't sure I would ever get him filled up with food. That child can put down the chow!!! And of course, Rachel E. is just full of mischief. She has such curly hair and she actually would sit still and let me fix it for her. I put it in braids the day they went home. She would sit on the stool in our bathroom and pretend to put on lipstick, using my unopened mascara! She was totally a little princess. We thoroughly enjoyed having the time with Andrea, Aaron, even though he had to work a few days helping out in the Furniture Row store here. I can hardly wait to live closer to all of them.

This was so funny. The week after I came back from Texas, Rachel and Avery came to visit for a few days. Since we only have showers, Avery took her "bath" in Grandma's kitchen sink. She had a blast and even blew bubbles!

Texas Trip to visit my Dad

I have posted some pictures, but not all of them, that I took when I went to visit my dad in Texas. For those of you who don't know, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. A few months ago, my mother had to have him put into a home where he can be taken care of. He is almost 90 years old, so one thing that I am thankful for is that he didn't develop this disease at a really young age. Knowing that his memory is slipping away, my mom would ask me, when I called her, if I could come to see him while he would still know me. I really struggled with this, because I knew it would be hard to see the man that was my father, no longer the same.
God is so good though. Bob and I had prayed that God would provide a way for me to go and He did! I got a really good price on airline tickets and so, on March 3rd I flew into Dallas. My sister, Rayelynn picked me up at the airport and I spent the night at her home. That was so great, because I also got to see my brother-in-law, Glenn and nephew Tyler. And of course the famous, Hamish...their scotty dog! They took me to a fabulous Mexican food restaurant for dinner and we had a great visit.
On Wednesday we drove to Weatherford, Texas which is about an hour from Dallas, and we picked up my sister, Merlene on the way. We met Mom at Antonio's, another Mexican restaurant for lunch. Then we went to Veranda Place, which is the assisted living home that Dad is in.
Mom and my sisters went in to Dad's room first and told him that they had a surprise for him. They told him I was there from Colorado, and then I walked into the room. It was a wonderful time. He was a little groggy because one of the doctors had put him on some more meds. But our time was blessed. We were there for quite a while, and then I went to Decatur to stay with Mom. On Thursday, Mom and I got to play golf with her friend and I played with some of Dad's clubs. That was really fun. I wasn't sure if I could swing the clubs, but I actually played well. That evening, Mom and I attended a support group for Alzheimers. There were only six people there, but it was a really good thing for Mom and I both. I know that all of the people there can support and encourage each other as they go through this time of trial in their lives. And all spoke of their faith carrying them through. It was encouraging for Mom to hear that she is not alone in this. My prayers are with the group.
Then Friday, we went to visit Dad again and this time he was feeling really good. We went for a walk and when we came back into the home, I saw a piano sitting in an open area. I asked the nurses if I could play for Dad and they said sure. I started out with "Amazing Grace" and as I played, several of the patients there started coming into the room. One little lady standing behind me started singing. I was so glad my back was to Dad and Mom, because it brought tears to my eyes and even now as I am writing this, I get a little misty. I sat and played for more than 30 minutes and even the ladies that sat outside in the hallway were singing. It was a God glorifying time. And so precious to me to play for Dad.
On Saturday, Mom and I decided to relax and we did go and do a little antiquing. Tried to find some garage sales, but no luck there. On Sunday, we went to Cornerstone Baptist that Dad and two of my uncles had built. Mom is so glad to be able to attend the services again. Then, that afternoon, I went and visited with my brother, Craig, nephew, Chris and sis-in-law, Rose. My sis, Rayelynn, came and picked Mom and I up later and took us back to Dallas to spend the night. On Monday....we went to Sam Moon's to shop. Oh, my word....that was the neatest store. It is huge and all it has is jewelry, belts and purses. I could have spent a fortune there, (everything is priced really inexpensive), but I had no room in my luggage. Then that evening I stayed with Merlene, my sis, and Steve. That night they took me to eat...of all things...Mexican food. I only had Mexican food five times while I was there. I loved it!!!!!
Merlene showed me her studio where she teaches jewelry making and it is so awesome. I am so proud of her and her talents.
On Tuesday, March 10th I flew back home to a lonely husband who really missed me while I was away. I am so thankful that he was willing for me to go. It is a journey that gave me good memories.

Bob and I had the privilege of going to Fort Collins for Christmas this year. It was so much fun to be with some of our children and grandchildren. We got there a few days before Christmas, so we got in on the excitement of doing a little last minute shopping at Centura in Loveland and the hustle of the holiday time. We were so sorry that Andrea was under the weather from having had a kidney stone the weekend before, but glad that she felt better as the days passed. She was able to go to the Christmas Eve service with us and enjoy Christmas Day with us too. Our grandkids were absolutely handsome and beautiful in their Christmas outfits for the service. Then afterward we went back to Andrea and Aaron's home and had a wonderful dinner. And as usual, we ate too much! And we watched the traditional video "Christmas Vacation" and laughed a ton. (Glad we don't have relatives like Chevy Chase's)! After the movie, Bob and I went back to Rachel and Brian's. On Christmas morning we opened gifts with Avery, Brian and Rachel and loved watching Avery with her toys. Then, a little later, Aaron and Andrea came over with Malachi and Rachel E. and we watched them open gifts too. We have a tradition of working a puzzle starting on Christmas Eve day and working it until it is done, so Andrea, Rachel and I worked on it quite a bit. In the afternoon, Brian and Rachel's friends, Jason and Joy came over with their daughter, Gwenyth, who is also about a year old and one of the students, Chichi, who is from Nigeria. We had a really relaxing time together. We used the leftover turkey from Christmas Eve dinner to make chili and then we played a game called " Curses". It was one of the funniest games I have ever played. We laughed so much.
We were blessed to spend the holidays with our kids. On Saturday after Christmas, Rob and Tiffany came up to Fort Collins with the three boys and spent the day and night with us. Then on Sunday morning, Brian, preached at their church for Sunday morning service. What an awesome sermon he gave. God spoke through him and blessed us all.
Our trip was just another indicator of how great it will be when we move to Fort Collins.

Vail Thanksgiving!

Well, another Thanksgiving in Vail has come and gone. But this year was especially blessed with Aaron and Andrea getting to be there for the first time in four years. Since they now live in Fort Collins, it is easy for them to spend Thanksgiving with us. And we had the added blessing of having Aaron's parents with us. David and Tina Taylor, who are missionaries to Hungary, are here in the states for a few months and then will be going back. We laughed, played games, ate tons of food, walked the village, went swimming and into the hot tub, and just enjoyed each other. Food was abundant. Aaron had informed me not to buy anything for the Thanksgiving dinner, because he had won a gift card for City Market and that he would get all the food. I would cook, but he would supply. Well, on Tuesday morning we went to the store and he found the biggest, fresh turkey he could find. It weighed 30 pounds! And we were only feeding six adults and two little ones. Needless to say, it barely fit into my roaster oven and he had four, one gallon bags of turkey to take home. We were also blessed to have Nathan and Mary, our son and his wife, come up on Saturday before Thanksgiving and spend the day and night with us. It was a blast. Then on Friday after Thanksgiving, a very special friend of Andrea's and ours came to see us and brought his wife, Amanda. Ben Williamson lives in Washington and had came to Grand Junction for the holiday to see his mom. They all drove to see Andrea and Bob and I. Even though it was a short time, it was such a sweet visit.
Our family and our friends made this a blessed, sweet Thanksgiving and we want to thank you all for sharing yourselves with us.

Moving to Fort Collins

Boy, I didn't realize how long it had been since I updated our blog. Our lives have been changing a lot in the last two months, so here goes. God has been taking Bob and I on a journey that has been a lot of ups and downs. Mostly ups though, in how He has helped us to grow in Him. And the decision to move to Fort Collins wasn't an easy one. But, having some grandkids there (and our daughters and son-in-laws) helped. When we found out our main company, Transamerica, that Bob has been with for over 28 years, was cancelling his general agency contract we didn't know what we were going to do. Then of course we worried a little bit ( knowing that old statement...why pray when you can worry!!) Ha! Ha! So we prayed a lot! We talked to our daughters in Fort Collins and they started praying for us too and Rachel, who has been there for several years and her husband started putting out feelers for possible jobs there. The response was amazing! Their church family was praying and looking and Bob and I were thrilled at their caring and outpouring of love. Of course, our church family here has been praying for our situation too. Although we didn't tell them of the possibility of our moving, because we really didn't think that was going to come to pass.
Well, surprise...surprise! Things starting coming together and one Saturday a few weeks ago, Bob was at the men's Bible study group and when they prayed for him and I, it was like an instant answer as to what God wanted us to do. So, we started going through and cleaning out our office, which the lease is up on December 31st, and then we have put our condo up for sale. We called the girls and told them we were moving to Fort Collins and they went bananas! Of course, the son-in-laws are saying they want us to be closer.....we'll see!!!!
Actually, we love them all and are excited to be able to live close to them. We told our church family that we were moving a week ago and it was really tough. We have lived here for over 24 years and we love it. Also, I am the church pianist and Bob is a deacon, so that is a little sad to leave too. But, at the same time, we have such a peace about this. And, it has been a long time since Bob has been this enthused about his work. That is exciting!!!
Well, Bob and I and Jim and Marlene Bonella, our BEST friends, took a quick trip to Fort Collins to look at some condos and we put a contract on one, contingent on the sale of ours here. And so, a new adventure is going to begin in our lives.
We would ask for your prayers as we start this journey. And we will keep you all up on the action as we get ready to move!

Sprinkler system fun???

Bob and I went to Fort Collins to help put a sprinkler system in Rachel and Brian's yard. What we thought originally would only take maybe three days turned into six. What a job, but of course I had the best job of all. I got to babysit Avery, Malachi and Rachel Eliana while everyone else was outside in the hot, hot weather. Of course, chasing a 2 1/2 year old, a 1 year old and a fast crawling 11 month old wasn't a walk in the park.hahaha! But, all kidding aside, we had a wonderful time with our children and grandchildren. Bob worked extremely hard to get the system in and did a great job. Also, thank the Lord for Aaron, our son-in-law, who worked the trencher. Wow, I don't know what we would have done if he hadn't been there to trench for us.

All in all everything got done and we are thankful!
